Quality over Quantity

When a person thinks of ministry, they shouldn't think of doing things, however this is typically the thought that comes to mind.  Ministry is something that is supposed to be integrated into our lives.  If you say however that you aren't called to ministry, I beg to differ.  In the book below, if you read through it, you will see what I mean.

As I have grown in my walk with Christ I have come to understand that it's not about the amount of things to do as stated in Ephesians 2:8-9.

The way our brains work we need to do things in order to gain acceptance, to feel like we have accomplished things in order to show what we are. With Christ and our relationship, its not about quantity, it's about quality. James 2:18 backs this statement up. So what we need to realize is that no matter how good something is, if we are strung out among several different "ministries" you aren't being affective. To be affective you need to focus on the quality of what you are doing, not the quantity.

  1. I agree. Lots of times we get wrapped up in how "active" we are in our Christian faith. We go to church and are involved in every ministry in the BCM, and we do Dnows, do 4 Bible studies and our whole week is filled with "Christian" activities. But we have to realize that it doesn't matter how much time we spend. We can spend 24 hours a day at church, but are we really getting something out of it? I think that applies with our quiet times too. Lots of times we put such emphasis on how LONG we study God's word...
"Oh my quiet time was an hour today! Praise Jesus!". But during that hour, did you really learn something, or were you just merely just skimming the Bible? I think God would rather us spend 10 minutes FULLY DEVOTED to him. 15 minutes of TRUE meditation on his words instead of a wasted hour, just so we can show off how long our quiet time is.
    Quality over quantity.

I'm not sure if this is exaclty what you meant by your post, but it was something we talked about in my Freshlife not too long ago. It's something I definately struggle with! I think God doesn't focus on how much we do, but how we do it! :)
